Based on the recommendations of a few LCs, Ive decided to try the nipple shield again. Ruby wouldn’t go onto the breast with it so I decided to try yet ANOTHER transition.
I figured I would put the nipple shield on my finger and feed her like that for a little while first and then move her to breast. It sounded like a good plan, but it just didn’t work out that well in practice. I know there is a way to do this because I’ve heard of other people doing this.
I used the smallest nipple shield there is and I still cant seem to get a seal. Air leaks in either between my finger and the inside of the shield or in between the shield and the SNS tubing. Results: a baby taking in a lot of gas and not much milk.
What am I doing wrong? Anyone know how to fix this?
